Dubai Police issued 48,950 fines for driving with expired vehicle registration between January and the end of October 2026, according to the force's traffic department. January recorded the highest monthly total, with 6,977 fines, while May saw the lowest, at 984.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, director of the traffic department at Dubai Police, said the annual registration process includes vital safety checks covering tyre condition, brake systems, lighting and steering mechanisms. He noted that these inspections are mandatory for vehicles over three years old, and skipping them can put drivers and others on the road at risk.

Police warned that drivers caught with expired registration face a fine of up to Dh500, four black points on their licence, and impoundment of their vehicle for seven days. Officials also stressed that valid registration is a prerequisite for vehicle insurance, meaning drivers without it face greater legal and financial exposure if they are involved in an accident.

The figures were released as part of Dubai Police's ongoing campaign to raise awareness about renewing vehicle registration on time, urging motorists to complete the renewal process through official channels before their registration expires.
