Abu Dhabi's ADNOC Gas has signed a five-year liquefied natural gas supply agreement with France's TotalEnergies, the companies announced on the sidelines of the ADIPEC energy conference in Abu Dhabi on November 3. Under the deal, ADNOC Gas will deliver a total of 1.6 million tonnes of LNG, roughly 320,000 tonnes a year, sourced from its Das Island terminal, which has an annual production capacity of six million tonnes.

Fatema Al Nuaimi, chief executive of ADNOC Gas, said global LNG demand continues to grow and that the company is well positioned to capture that opportunity. Stéphane Michel, TotalEnergies' president for gas, renewables and power, pointed to the UAE's location "between Europe and Asia" as a key reason behind the arrangement.

The agreement fits into ADNOC's broader push to expand its LNG marketing portfolio, with the group targeting 47 million tonnes of annual LNG marketing capacity beyond 2030. ADNOC Trading and XRG, ADNOC's international gas investment arm, are both involved in supporting the deal's execution.

The signing comes as the UAE pursues several parallel LNG initiatives, including sizeable investments in Australian gas projects. Energy analysts note that mid-term supply contracts like this one let Gulf producers lock in market share in Europe, which has been seeking alternative gas sources since cutting back on Russian pipeline imports. For TotalEnergies, the deal adds a reliable long-term supply line from one of the Gulf's most active LNG exporters, reinforcing a trading relationship between the French major and Abu Dhabi's state energy group that has deepened over the past two years.
